Like Magic the scouts have grown from Tigers to Webelos to Boyscouts!
Come celebrate the magical ceremonies of Crossover and the Arrow of Light on January 16th. After the ceremonies, we will be entertained by the talented and funny Danny Magic followed by cake and a slide show presentation.
Scouts should wear their red vests and arrive by 6:20pm. The meeting starts at 6:30pm sharp in the Hindley School Common Room and will most likely run until 8:30pm...
Please join us for a very special evening on Thursday, January 15th!
We will celebrate the crossover of our Webelos II scouts and have a visit by special guest, Atka the Wolf and the Wolf Conservation Center!
This meeting will be held at the Darien Library Auditorium (please note NOT at Tokeneke School) from 6:00-7:30pm (please also note earlier start time).
Den 11 will conduct a brief crossover ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of our most senior Cub Scouts, our Webelos II's. These scouts have worked hard for 4 1/2 years to earn their Arrow of Light and their graduation to Boy Scout Troop 35!
After, we will enjoy a special presentation by the Wolf Conservation Center of South Salem, NY.The WCC's educational programs are designed to conform to New York State Standards for Science Education and touch on a variety of disciplines from biology to history. Field tested throughout the northeast, their programs have received rave reviews. With the mission to educate people about wolves, their relationship in the environment and the human role in protecting their future, the WCC has put together an informative and entertaining look at the history of wolves in North America, their biology and the mythology that surrounds them. The second part of the program belongs to Atka, the WCC's live mascot wolf! The WCC wolf handler will escort Atka on leash about the venue, allowing everyone to have a great view. Scouts will have the opportunity to ask questions.
A cupcake treat will finish off the evening!Scouts must be in full scout uniform. It might even be a good night to break out that red vest (the scout equivalent of the tuxedo)!!
Come celebrate the end of the year and summer at Weed Beach
Thursday, June 12 from 6-8pm.
We will have pizza, snacks and drinks at 6pm and and advancements at 7pm. There will be a guessing jar and the Good Turn box with prizes, so please come ready to promote your scout for any good deed he has done this month! We may even run an informal relay race or two. Scouts should come in Class B Tshirts and sneakers.
Advancements are an important part of the scouting process - when the boys earn their badges for completing their current levels (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos). It is a time where scouts see all their achievements come together in the form of recognition from the Pack and from Pack parents. Unlike the fun badges scouts receive from Pack and Den meetings that go on their red vests, these badges go directly on their uniforms.
Please contact James Carrier at jvcarrier@gmail.com if you do not have a beach sticker. He can make accommodations for parking for you via our beach permit.
Please register by clicking on the event in the Events column on the right side of the home page. Please let us know how many people (2 children/1 adult) will be coming in the Notes column. This is for purposes of ordering pizza and beverages. Siblings welcome!
