New TV Series on Scouting this Fall on National Geographic Channel

Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout?

Series to Debut on National Geographic Channel -  Pits Adults Against Boy Scouts for a Variety of Challenges

Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout? It’s the question being asked by a new unscripted series set to air this fall on the National Geographic Channel.

Those who have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America know how tough Scouts can be. They master hundreds of unique skills, learn what it takes to survive in a variety of circumstances, and focus on teamwork to accomplish goals that otherwise would be insurmountable. Now, as part of Are You Tougher Than a Boy Scout?, teams of adults from different backgrounds will have an opportunity to test their mettle against some of those Scouts in challenges based on the Boy Scout Handbook.

“I was three badges short of my Eagle Scout badge, and I know I am not alone,” said Original Productions founder and producer Thom Beers. “This series is going to allow people like me one more chance to achieve such an incredible milestone. Plus, it’s authentic, has a fun and interesting set of circumstances and underdog characters with a story to tell. And frankly, who doesn’t love the Boy Scouts?”

“This is a wonderful, unique opportunity to demonstrate the value, fun, and challenge of Scouting to audiences who might be wondering what Scouting in 2012 is all about,” said BSA Chief Scout Executive Bob Mazzuca. “We know Scouts are ‘Prepared. For Life’ so they’re up to facing the challenges life throws their way. Watching them face and overcome challenges on national television will be a new way for people to get a glimpse of what it means to be a Scout.”

Production of the six-episode series is set to begin this spring, with the series premiering later this year on the National Geographic Channel.

NOVEMBER PACK NIGHT - BLUE AND GOLD CELEBRATION

Posted on Nov 18 2014 - 9:28pm

Join Pack 161 on Thursday, November 20th at Tokeneke School at 6:30 PM for our Blue & Gold Pack Night!! The purpose of the Blue & Gold event is to celebrate the pack's anniversary, thank pack leaders and other adults who have helped the pack and inspire the leaders, scouts, and parents.

The theme for the evening is Citizenship. The Scouts will have a chance to hear from local Post 53 volunteer kids (a.k.a. "Posties") about what being an EMT volunteer has meant to them and how they help the community. Each Den will also be creating a Christmas themed ornament or craft to hand out at the December carol sing at Atria. The scouts won’t want to miss the Guessing Jar too; the scout who guesses the right number of blue and gold jellybeans takes home the jar! We'll also enjoy a pizza dinner...

In honor of Thanksgiving, please bring a non-perishable bottle (gallon or ½ gallon) of juice, iced tea or lemonade to be donated to Inspirica, a Stamford based women’s shelter.
