Join Pack 161 on Thursday, November 12th at Tokeneke School from 6:30-7:30pm for a fun and enlightening evening!
The theme for the night is Citizenship. The Scouts will learn about the freedoms and privileges we have as Americans, especially the right to vote. The boys will participate in a real life voting exercise, entering the "voting booth" to vote on their favorite candy. We'll also sing the Star Spangled Banner accompanied by the piano.
Then, Master Storyteller, Jonathan Kruk will entertain, enchant and educate the boys with stories of the Long Island Sound Pirates. Jonathan was an Eagle Scout and will weave scouting values into his stories. He was selected "Best Storyteller in the Hudson Valley" by Hudson Valley Magazine and The New York Times described him as "Westchester's intrepid storyteller" for his creative dramatics, varied voices and language for the senses.
Scouts won’t want to miss the Guessing Jar, which will be filled with red, white and blue candy. And as always, nominate your scouts for Good Turn if they have done something particularly thoughtful this month. Help congratulate our new scouts and Tigers as we present them with their very first achievement - the Bobcat Badge.
In honor of Thanksgiving, please bring a non-perishable bottle (gallon or ½ gallon) of juice, iced tea or lemonade to be donated to Inspirica, a Stamford based women’s shelter.
Our October Pack Night is right around the corner, Thursday, October 22nd! It will be held at Tokeneke School from 6:30-7:30pm.
Our theme for Pack Night is Responsibility. One way to be responsible is to use resources wisely & share what you have. This year, we'll have a Costume Exchange. Please BRING in any costumes you no longer need (for any age, size, gender) and please TAKE away any costumes you need. Any costumes remaining at the end of the night will be donated to the Darien Thrift Shop.
Bring your decorated pumpkins to the meeting. Once again, we will have a pumpkin judging contest! Scouts will vote on the most creative themed pumpkin designs submitted by their peers. They will also enjoy making a fun scarecrow craft. We'll have prizes for each category. Although Pack Night starts at 6:30pm, we'll ask for pumpkins to be dropped off between 5:45 - 6:15pm so we can get the judging tables set up.
Have your scout take a turn at the guessing jar. Winner gets to take home the prize - filled with candy corns! Don't forget to nominate your scout for Good Turn if he has been particularly helpful or considerate this month. Prize will be given to the best do-gooder.
See attached for the registration form. Please have this form completed when you come to drop off your scout's pumpkin to help expedite the process. Scouts are asked to pre-select a category when designing their pumpkins (please no candles or wet paint!). Categories are as follows:
