Attention all Bear, Webelos1 and Webelos 2 scouts:

There are still five spots remaining for this event! Registration must be completed before noon today (Thursday).

Mobilepack Event October 19-20 @ Middlesex Middle School Cafeteria

Come help pack over 200,000 Mannapack meals for starving children all over the world. Hosted jointly by the churches of Darien and cosponsored by the Council for Darien School Parents.

You must register online to volunteer (volunteers should be at least 8 years old or 3rd grade) and registration fills up quickly!!

POPCORN SALE UPDATE

The Popcorn Sale is the main source of revenue for our pack. Our 2013 Popcorn Sale is off to a terrific start, with six Show & Sell events completed and two more scheduled for Saturday, October 5^th. Our overall goal this year is $30,000, and we can get there if each scout meets his goals, which are to:

Sell at least $250 door-to-door and/or online and
Participate in at least one Show & Sell event

The more your scout sells, the bigger the prize he can choose from. In addition to scouting-related goods, gift card prizes are available for scouts who sell $250 or more. There are also bonus prizes, including tickets to a UCONN men’s basketball game ($700 of sales) and even an iPad or Xbox 360 ($3,000 of sales)!

Here are the key dates to keep in mind:

NOW! Door-to-door and online selling
October 19^th – submit cub door-to-door order sheets and money to Den Leader(s)
October 22^nd – Den Leaders submit total Den order to Popcorn Kernel for final Take Order
November 9^th – *IMPORTANT* Den Take Order popcorn must be picked up at 29 Harbor Road for distribution to parents and scouts
November 9^th to 16^th – scouts deliver popcorn to customers

Come honor our veterans and heros at the 2014 Darien Memorial Day Parade!

Monday, May 26 at 9am. Goodwives Shopping Center.

Pack 161 will meet in lane 3 of Goodwives - this appears on the map (attached) to be somewhere between Stop n Shop and the wine store. On the map, we are labeled as "CUBS". Please read directions for very important instructions on parking and drop off rules. You will NOT be able to park in Goodwives - only in the areas nearby. Boys must be in uniform - please no sports shorts/pants or jeans. Parents can walk with their scouts, but not required as Pack/Den leadership will be there as well. The length of the parade is 1.25 miles - so make sure your scout wears comfortable shoes!

This event is open to all Powahay units!!!

Presented by Troop 31, please join us for a 5k walk, games, activities and information about healthy living. This event is to promote awareness about childhood obesity. Walk and activities are geared towards getting kids and families outside and active. There is no cost (NO Fee will be collected); however, donations accepted and pledges can be collected but are not required. Just come and have fun! Event is co-sponsored by Bridgeport Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital. Bridgeport Hospital will have folks there to promote healthy living and have hand outs.

Troop 31 needs our support and really would like to have people there for the sponsors to see!!! Come on out and enjoy this nice fall weather.

April 9, 2016 – Astronomy Day – Intrepid Museum – Cub Scout Opportunity

Learn the ins and outs of amateur astronomy from Museum educators, as well as the important role the stars play for pilots and astronauts navigating through the sky. Visit our pop-up planetarium, and learn how to use binoculars and telescopes on the flight deck of Intrepid. Examine our collection of spacecraft, including the space shuttle Enterprise, the Soyuz capsule, and replicas of the Mercury and Gemini capsules, and hear stories about the men and women who have made space exploration possible.

Workshops take place between 11:00am and 2:30pm.

Box lunch included

During Astronomy Days, Cubs Scouts will work on their Astronomy Belt Loops and Academics Pins while Boy Scouts will work toward their Astronomy Merit Badges.
